"Buddy was born in January 2015 and was raised by Maureen Sargent. Maureen had a bad hip and was eventually unable to walk Buddy, so she sought rehoming assistance through GSRSV. We, the Parrington Family, adopted Buddy in March 2017.
Buddy
immediately became part of our family. He loved being the center of attention
and was happiest when he was with all of us or the kids and their friends. He
was a wonderful running companion, hiker, and an awesome soccer player. He was
full of life and his favorite adventures were playing soccer on the school
fields down the block and exploring in the outdoors with us.
Buddy was always ready to play. Every morning he would bring a toy out as soon as we got up. His very favorite indoor game was balloon volleyball. He loved riding in the car with us and going on trips. He enjoyed the kids’ birthday parties, sleepovers, and just hanging out. He liked nothing better than to lie in the center of all the sleeping bags in the living room and be pet by all my daughter’s friends.
Buddy
was quite the explorer too. He did a 14-mile hike through rugged terrain and
still wanted to play ball afterwards! He was our running partner and our
sledding partner.
Buddy was
a huge, fearsome-looking dog, but was the friendliest dog you could ever meet.
He loved meeting new people and being pet. The smile on his face when we went on
trips was infectious. He brought so much joy to us all.
Unfortunately, in the fall of 2022, what we thought was arthritis turned out to be osteosarcoma (bone cancer) that made it difficult for him to walk and then quickly spread to his lungs and the rest of his body.
Buddy was
euthanized on November 13, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. We miss him
terribly, but are grateful to have had him as part of our family. Rest in peace,
Buddy!"
