"Writing a tribute for a dog that you are still deeply grieving is a very difficult thing. I see him everywhere I go when I walk Huey. 'That’s where he found the bagel', 'That’s where Ziggy treed the squirrel', 'That’s the grate where Ziggy smelled something and made Linda wait for an hour while he checked it out.'

Words cannot express how much Ziggy meant to us. He was a very special dog.  We called him Ziggy Ziggy Thump Thump as he would thump his tail on the floor when he was happy to see us.

Ziggy was a once in a lifetime dog. He was sweet, loveable, easy on leash, and got along with everybody (except maybe cats, squirrels, and chickens). He loved sleeping on the couch and eating cheese.

Our neighbor, Linda, and Ziggy had a very special bond. During the pandemic they grew closer and she and he would embark on long walks together. Ziggy loved dinner time (barking his happiness and to make us hurry up), inspecting sewers and grates, and rooting around bushes for critters. We only had him for four years and that was not long enough, but during that time we cherished him every day. We will miss him forever."

[Note from GSRSV's Brian Foran: I originally rescued Ziggy June 4, 2011, from the shelter in Wasco, CA (see picture on right).

A couple in Los Gatos adopted Ziggy in October 2011, but ended up returning him to me in Nov 2015 due to a separation.

Ziggy was such an easy-going, fun-loving dog that I decided to hold on to him. However, in 2017 Ziggy and a couple of other dogs got off my property and killed a bunch of a neighbor's chickens. This led to my losing my permit to have up to 30 dogs on my property in Sept 2017 (effective March 2018) and forced me to find foster and permanent homes for many of the dogs at my rescue ranch.

In late March 2018, Sharon & Peter agreed to foster Ziggy, but quickly became smitten with Ziggy's loving, easy-going personality. The rest is history.......Thank you, Sharon & Peter, for both helping me out in a time of need and for loving Ziggy so much.]
